Dreams FC coach Abdul Karim Zito says forward Abdul Aziz Issah merits a place in the senior national men’s soccer team, the Black Stars, and must have been called up into the fold by now.

The former Black Satellites coach compares the 18-year-old to Abedi Pele, particularly how the legend was drafted into the Black Stars.

“We were at Aburi [in camp] when Abedi Pele was brought in. Today, when you talk about African or world football, Abedi Pele is a household name,” Zito observed on Tuesday, April 2 on Maakye Sports

on Onua FM.

“So, if he is 18 and playing like this, even Abedi Pele did not play like this level.”

Abdul Aziz has been one of the kingpins in the Dreams FC set-up in the CAF Confederation Cup, scoring an amazing goal in the 3-2 away win over APC Lobito in the group stage.

He was also part of the Gold-winning Black Satellites team at the 2023 African Games.

Zito says the youngster needs encouragement in order to shine brightest in his burgeoning career.

He said if he were the Black Stars coach, Abdul Aziz Issah would have received his debut call-up by now.

“Let’s also encourage somebody. We should forget about all the indirect messages and go straight. If I were the one in the Black Stars, I would have called him and other players.”
