A political scientist at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Prof. Samuel Adu-Gyamfi, has said Assin Central lawmaker, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, needs a total rebranding to fulfill his latest political ambition.

The legislator wants to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as flagbearer into the 2024 general elections, contesting with Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen and others.

Already describing the contest as not a two horse race, Prof. Adu Gyamfi speaking on TV3’s Midday Live Friday, January 6, 2023, said the vociferous Member of Parliament will be a good candidate for the NPP and as Ghana’s leader, but needs rebranding after how he has carried out his political trail over the years.

He inidcated the flaws, has nothing to do with the politician’s character but rather, how he has carried out his politics over the years.

“If you look at Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, I think he has his own flaws and these flaws are not flaws that come about as a result of his personal character or his intentions and what he can do for this country. I think it has come about how he has played his politics,” he indicated.

Considering him a good candidate for the NPP and Ghana as a whole, Prof. Adu Gyamfi asserts Ken Agyapong needs intellectuals to change his political outlook to perfectly befit the role in the NPP and even for Ghana as a whole.

According to the political analyst, even though Kennedy Agyapong exhibits audacious leadership traits, his style of politics has earned him some flaws.

Hence, for the lawmaker to increase his chances of winning the NPP Presidential primaries and subsequently the general elections, he needs to be rebranded.

“On a personal note, I think he needs to allow some intellectuals to come within his sphere to rebrand him. He has the capacity to lead this country but he needs rebranding going forward. Because if he should win the primaries, he needs critical rebranding to win elections in this country,” he stressed.
