Former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kwesi Nyantakyi has served notice of becoming a Sports Minister in the event the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is retained in power.

He said he will consider that position if it is handed to him.

“If NPP comes and they make me a Sports Minister, I may consider it but if the NDC comes and they consider me, it will be difficult.”

Kwesi Nyantakyi made this known on Tuesday, April 2 when he took the hot seat on Onua TV

‘s flagship morning show Maakye hosted by Captain Smart.

He talked extensively about his interest to become the next Member of Parliament (MP) for Ejisu Constituency.

The former GFA President said he has been a member of the NPP since 2015 albeit not active.

He is hopeful of becoming the replacement of deceased MP John Ampontuah Kumah, who died suddenly on Thursday, March 7 after battling a long ailment.

He has promised the youth of Ejisu improvement in their standards of living, especially using sports to get them employable skills.

The former Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) said he will also use his well-vested experience to revive football in Ghana.

“I will ensure that the GFA takes back its past glory,” he said.

“I am a former President [of the GFA], so I see myself as an insider,” he added.

“Wherever I find myself I have to use my wisdom to help improve not only football but sports as a whole. I am also a lawyer, so I will use all that to help develop football.”
