Black Stars and Toulouse FC midfielder Francis Abu has successfully undergone surgery after breaking his leg in the 0-2 loss to Japan on Friday.
Abu underwent surgery at the Toyota Memorial Hospital, where he was ambulanced immediately after the incident at the Toyota Sports Stadium in Aichi.
The Black Stars Team Doctor, Dr Prince Pambo, led the medical team to have a series of meetings with the Toulouse FC medical representative and practitioners at the Toyota Memorial Hospital on the way forward.
Writing on his Facebook page on Sunday, Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Henry Asante Twum underwent surgery and has commenced the acute phase of rehabilitation.
He revealed that the GFA has agreed to get a physiotherapist to be with the former Cercle Brugge player “to help him with his intensive physiotherapy sessions during this acute phase of his rehabilitation”.
“There are also plans for a senior member of the technical team to accompany the player to his home base in France after he is discharged from the Toyota Memorial Hospital where the surgery took place.”
Members of the technical team visited Abu at the Hospital before departure to South Korea for Tuesday’s friendly.
