Ghana Premier League leaders Medeama SC have had their lead cut to two points after losing 1-2 to Berekum Chelsea in midweek action.
Despite taking the lead through Kelvin Nkrumah after just 10 minutes of play, the Yellow and Mauves could not hold on as Seidu Abubakari equalised before the break.
After a cagey second half, Jonah Attuquaye struck with five minutes to the end, securing the winner for Samuel Boadu’s side.
The win proves vital for the Blues, who move out of the relegation zone with 41 points.
Their next game will be against Dreams FC, also at home.
In his post-match interview, Coach Samuel Boadu assured of a win in that game, insisting that difficult as it may be, they will ensure that they pick maximum points on Sunday.
His opposite number, Ibrahim Tanko, admitted mistakes on the part of his players, especially five minutes from time, in Wednesday’s game at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park.
“I think we made a lot of the usual mistakes and looking at the pitch I think the pitch did not help us,” he stated, adding that there is pressure on them but believes they will overcome that feeling and win the title.
Their next match will be away to Basake Holy Stars.
