Ibrahim Faila Fuseini, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra region, has alleged that the recent fire outbreaks at Ritz Junction, a suburb of Madina, are being orchestrated by an individual.
According to him, these incidents are deliberate attempts by the said individual to claim ownership of the state-acquired land.
Fuseini believes the three fire incidents at the same location within three months are part of a calculated effort to oust occupants and assert control over the area.
“All indications suggest that this is a deliberate act by one person. Within three months, there have been three fire outbreaks in the same location,” he told Accra-based Citi FM Monday, August 4, 2025. “After each incident, this individual appears to engage the Lands Commission in an effort to clear the area.”
The MCE intimated that the Assembly has requested an official report from the Ghana National Fire Service and assured that firm action would be taken to protect the land and prevent further destruction.
He added that if the official report confirms his suspicions, the individual would be arrested to face the law.
“I am waiting for the final report. If it confirms the same name, I will take legal action and cause the arrest of the individual. We will pursue this matter through every legal means available. Under the current leadership, that land will not be handed over,” he stated.
He is certain the issue will be resolved within a month, as the official fire report is expected to be ready by next week.
On Sunday, August 3, 2025, a devastating fire razed several makeshift wooden and metal structures at Madina Ritz Junction, sparking chaos and destruction.
According to reports, the Ghana National Fire Service received an emergency call at 12:36 p.m. and quickly responded, with the first fire appliance from the Madina Fire Station arriving at the scene just four minutes later, at 12:40 p.m.
It is expected that the report will help bring the fire cases to an end to protect properties and potential loss of lives.
