A 50-year-old woman has been arrested by residents and handed over to the police for allegedly stealing a 2-year-old baby into a margirine bucket at Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region.

The woman according to a report given by Nana Adom on Onua News Friday, November 4, 2022, the woman was identified sitting on a margirine bucket behind the house of the little girl.

The residents became suspicious of her as report indicates she is not known in the area. They tried talking to her but refused to comply.

“We tried asking her questions but she insisted on not talking to us; we intentionally ignored the suspect but were monitoring her movement,” the residents have said.

According to Nana Adom, the woman grabbed the two year old girl who was playing around and squeezed her into the bucket.

Because the residents were suspicious, she was chased the moment she carried the baby on her head and started moving.

The woman, upon realising she was being followed dropped the bucket and to run for her life.

She fell into a ditch whilst running and was grabbed by the residents.

Meanwhile, mother of the girl, Janet Ampah, who is nursing a two month old baby says she was feeding the baby whilst the two year old was playing around. She heard an alarm and carried the two month old baby to find out what’s going on, only to find out her two year old girl had been kidnapped.

The suspect has since been handed over to the Mankessim Division police for investigations.
