A 16-year-old girl has burnt down her boyfriend’s room for breaking up with her at New Nkusukum, a suburb of Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region.

Reports indicate that the suspect, Rebecca, had demanded for money from her boyfriend, Stephen Agbobli, who refused her over allegations of cheating on him. Samuel told Rebecca to call it quits with him over her cheating attitude.

But, Rebecca, according to eyewitnesses, pleaded with her boyfriend to forgive her which he refused. Samuel reportedly dragged the young girl from his corn mill shop.

The suspect, who had a spare key to her former boyfriend’s room, went to set the room ablaze with kerosene following the incident at Samuel’s workplace.

Stephen could not retrieve any of his items by the time he was informed of the incident and rushed to his house. Amongst the items burnt included a refrigerator, television set, and others.

And old woman who spoke with Onua News noted the suspect had complained to her of the ill-treatment she got from her boyfriend after asking him for money. She says she was later informed by Stephen through someone’s else’s phone that if he dies, Rebecca, his ex-girlfriend, should be held responsible.

“She is going out with Stephen and she asked him for money in the morning which Stephen said he doesn’t have so she should wait till the afternoon. So Kess came to tell me that Stephen wanted to talk to me and she gave me [the phone] and he (Stephen) told me that if he dies, Rebecca should be held responsible. So Stephen told me in the morning that she came to the workplace to create confusion,” the woman had said.

The suspect has taken to her heels and the matter has since been reported to the Mankessim Divisional Police Command.
