Media General’s Northern and Savannah regional correspondents, Christopher Amoako and Nadra Mohammed have been nominated for the 5th Northern Region GJA awards scheduled to take place on Saturday, November, 15, 2025.

The two are among nine (9) others nominated for awards in eleven (11) different categories.

For Christopher Amoako, this is the fourth consecutive time since 2020 that he has been nominated for the awards.

In 2021, he won Best Education Reporter.

He followed it up with two awards in 2022: Best Education Reporter and Best Reporter in Advancing the SDGs.

In 2023, he won two categories again: Best Education Reporter and Best reporter in advancing the SDGs and went ahead to win the 2023 Journalist of the Year Award.

Christopher is thus the reigning Journalist of the Year for the Northern, Savannah and North East Regions.

In the case of Nadra Mohammed, this is the first time she’s received nominations for the awards since joining Media General in 2024.

Other nominees include; Daniel A. Laryea (GBC), Shawana Yussif (Citi TV), Noah Nash Hoenyefia (GHone TV), Abubakari Alhassan Baba (Daily Graphic), Eric Kombat (Daily Guide), Solomon Gumah (GNA), Hamza Salifu Lansah (Sagani TV), Inusah Arimiyaw (Sagani TV) and Mohammed Amin M. Alabira (Channel One TV)

Some selected media houses in the region will also receive awards for their excellent performance during the year under review.

This year’s awards which is the fifth edition of the awards, is on the Theme: Bridging the Rural-Urban Education Gap; the role of the Media.

Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Professor Amin Alhassan are among several dignitaries expected to grace the occasion.
