Some tertiary students who visited the renovated Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park left the place due to what they term exorbitant fees being charged.

They explained that they were not aware that the gate fees had been increased so exorbitantly.

According some students who spoke to TV3’s George Kwaning Tuesday, July 11, 2023, the new fees are simply unaffordable.

Before the re-development, Ghanaian adults were paying GH₵3 and non-Ghanaians, GH₵10. However, the new charge is GH₵25 for Ghanaian adults and GH₵100 for non-Ghanaian adults.

The students expect the attendants to explain to visitors why the fees are so high.

“I couldn’t enter because of the price. I didn’t budget for GH₵15.00. It’s too much. They should reduce it a little. We actually came to the GBC here and we said they’ve renovated here, so we decided to go there, but they said we should pay 25 Cedis. They didn’t even explain that students pay 15 Cedis,” one of them indicated.

“They can clarify things. Maybe at the gate, someone will be there and telling us all this. (Categorisation for students and the general public),” another lady added.

On the first day the facility reponed, an appreciable level of patronage by members of the public was recorded.

Meanwhile, management of the facility say they expect the level of patronage to shoot up in the coming days
