Ghana National Gas Company has firmly rejected recent media allegations of impropriety in its procurement activities, stating that every process undertaken was fully lawful and compliant with national regulations.

In a press release signed by Richard Ernest Kirk-Mensah, Head of Corporate Affairs, the company explained that the public outcry largely stems from one routine business decision: a change in its lead insurance provider after previous contracts naturally expired at the end of last year.

Far from being suspicious, management says the move is simply smart business.

“The Company wishes to categorically assure the general public that no wrongdoing has occurred,” the statement read.

According to Ghana Gas, the new insurance arrangements are part of an enhanced risk management strategy one designed to better protect the company’s valuable assets, including pipelines and infrastructure.

To further put concerns to rest, the company noted that every contract awarded went through the proper channels:

· The Public Procurement Authority (PPA) gave its required approvals.

· The Ministry of Finance issued commitment authorisations before any deal was finalised.

No shortcuts. No secret deals. Just due process.

While the media noise continues, Ghana Gas says its real work hasn’t stopped: delivering gas efficiently and reliably to meet the nation’s energy needs.

The company also reaffirmed its dedication to transparency, corporate governance, and compliance adding that it will continue to review and strengthen internal processes whenever necessary.

“The Board and Management reaffirm their absolute commitment to transparency, good governance, and the national interest,” the statement added.

Their primary focus remains unchanged: delivering gas in a timely and efficient manner to meet the nation’s energy needs consistently. As a critical player in Ghana’s energy sector, the company says it does not lose sight of this core mandate.

“As is standard practice for any robust organisation, the Company will continue to review and strengthen its internal processes where necessary,” the statement concluded.
