2024 flag bearer hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, has reemphasised why the November 4 presidential primary is not a make or break election, urging all to support whoever emerges as the flag bearer to break the 8 for the NPP.

Speaking to the media in Accra Thursday, September 14, 2023, Dr. Akoto, who is confident of winning the slot, said his achievements and contributions towards the party, as well as his roots that are traced to the tradition of the NPP, will be his anchor.

He said he will work with whoever the party chooses as the flag bearer after the exercise to ensure the NPP goes beyond the conventional two terms.

“In this respect, let me state here categorically, that I am prepared to work equally hard for whosoever the delegates choose to lead this party on the 4th of November, 2023. We must break the 8 to retain the NPP in power,” he stated.

“I pray that the 210,000+ delegates would choose me as their leader in whose hands the dear party of ours will flourish to victory come December 2024. My commitment to the development of this party is well known to all. Initiating the formation of our oversea branches, serving in opposition in Parliament and in government as a cabinet minister, are some of the strategic roles I’ve played in the development of this party and this nation,” he shared his contribution to the party.

The former Minister of Food and Agriculture said he is counting on his contributions to clinch the flag bearer position for the party.

“I’m relying on these contributions to convince the delegates to vote massively for me come November 4,” he added.
