General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong has asked the Ghana Police to without fear or favour, execute their mandate professionally as they always do on November 4 during the party’s presidential primary.
The General Secretary says he has trust in the Service likewise the Electoral Commission to do their work professionally as they did during the party’s special delegates’ conference held on August 26, 2023.
Speaking at a meeting between leadership of the party, the Electoral Commission, the Ghana Police Service and the Election Committee of the NPP, Mr. Kodua Frimpong said the party was ready to cooperate with the two institutions to effectively carry out the exercise.
He commended the EC and the police for doing a great job at the first phase of the party’s presidential primary and said they look forward for an improved delivery of duty.
“Look at it without fear or favour and do your work as you professionally always do. You have our full support as a party and the Electoral Commission likewise”
“All of us are going to follow the details as indicated by the Electoral Commission and the Ghana Police Service. On the 26th of August, the respective institutions; the Electoral Commission and the Ghana police Service did a yeoman’s job and we are looking forward to even better what happened on August 26,” he indicated.
Meanwhile, he admitted there were some shortfalls during the last exercise and assured the agencies of the party’s support to ensure any challenges are rectified.
“I must admit that there were certain bits of infractions on 26th of August and we are hoping that come November 4, these things will not happen. Mr. IGP and your team, you have absolute support of the party on that day,” he stated.
Speaking at the same function, the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare assured the party of the police’s readiness to provide the needed security for an incident-free election.
Four persons are contesting the flag bearer position of the ruling New Patriotic Party including vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, the Assin Central lawmaker, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a former Agric Minister, and Francis Addai-Nimoh, a former MP for Mampong.
