Minerals Consultant and businessman Francis Owusu-Akyaw has been declared winner of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries in the Juaben Constituency in Ashanti Region.

He polled 334 of the total votes, defeating incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) and Deputy Minister of Communications and Digitalization Ama Pomaa Boateng, who secured 120 votes.

The election, which was supervised by the Electoral Commission, was held at the Methodist School Park on Saturday in Juaben Municipality in the Ashanti Region.

Addressing delegates and supporters after being declared winner, Francis Owusu-Akyaw pledged to unite the party to appreciate votes for the party’s flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

He called on all party members to work together to ensure victory for NPP in the 2024 general elections.

Mr Owusu-Akyaw was disqualified to contest the incumbent MP in the run-up to 2020 parliamentary primaries in Juaben Constituency.

His victory has, therefore, brought joy and excitement to NPP members in the Juaben Constituency. They have been crying for him to lead the party.
