A former forward for Accra Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, Ashanti Gold and the Black Stars, Emmanuel Osei Kuffour, has stated that clubs like Aduana Stars and Berekum Chelsea battling for the league defies reality.

According to him, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko should be the clubs challenging for the Ghana Premier League instead of Medeamas, Aduanas and the Chelseas.

In an interview with Onua Sports, the versatile attacker expressed his disappointment over the lack of competition from the two gaints in winning the league due to the dip in form in recent times.

He said, Kotoko and Hearts of Oak are the big clubs in Ghana and should be representing the country in any major African competition.

He therefore describes it as a shame that some teams are rather winning the league ahead of these two traditional clubs.

He emphasised the need for the two glamorous clubs to sign the best players in the country to cement their deserved positions in the nation’s football.

“During our time, all the best players in the country were always joining us, but it is different now. Hearts and Kotoko are not attracting the best of players anymore and it is a major worry. Their management should sit up and restructure their recruitment plans well,” he inidcated.

Emmanuel Osei Kuffour enjoyed a stellar career with Hearts of Oak winning the GPL 4 times and also the CAF Champions League and the Confederations Cup.
