Ghana failed to qualify for the next stage of the 2022 World Cup as they fell to a 2-0 defeat to familiar foe Uruguay.

Andre Ayew, who is usually dependable, was presented with a golden opportunity to give Ghana the lead, but his poor penalty kick was saved.

The miss dampened the Black Stars’ spirits and served as motivation for Uruguay, who scored two goals in six minutes thanks to Giorgian de Arrascaeta’s brace.

The defeat means Ghana are out of the World Cup, failing to reach the knockout stage.

Here is how the Black Stars were rated.

Lawrence Ati Zigi-3
Struggled to command his area and conceded two goals.

Alidu Seidu-3
Did well to surge forward but was indecisive in critical situations. His positioning was not the best as well

Mohammed Salisu-3
Went silent on the day as he struggled to deal with the Uruguayan attack

Daniel Amartey-3
Failed to meet expectations as a couple of errors on his part cost Ghana.

Baba Rahman-3
His attacking runs were not productive, and he failed to deal with Uruguay attackers.

Salis Abdul Samed-4
Played his role diligently with consistent passes coupled with interceptions.

Thomas Partey-3
The Arsenal man once again failed to live up to expectations. He gave away possessions a number of times

Andre Ayew-2
Missed a crucial penalty that affected the Black Stars.

Jordan Ayew-3
Didn’t see much of the ball and was subbed off immediately after the break. He lost possession leading to Uruguay’s first goal.

Mohammed Kudus-5
He was Ghana’s best player but his efforts were denied by the defence of Uruguay.

Inaki Williams-3
Dissapointing performance again.

Substitutes

Osman Bukari-3
Couldn’t add more to the already trailing team as his efforts were well contained by his opponents.

Kamaldeen Sulemana-3
Troubled the Uruguayan defence but his final balls lacked precision.

Antoine Semenyo-3
He missed a great chance in the final 10 minutes.
