Re-named Black Stars coach Otto Addo is expected to be in the dugout when the team takes on Nigeria and Uganda in two friendly matches in Marrakech, Morocco next week.

He has thus named his squad for the two games.

Among those conspicuously missing is goalkeeper Richard Ofori, who captained the team in most games at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Orlando Pirates’ goalie’s blunder in the final group game at the 34th AFCON led to the vital equaliser for Mozambique, denying Ghana the 3 points needed to make it to the Round of 16.

In his place are two new call-ups: Asante Kotoko’s Frederick Asare and Club Aurora’s David Akologo.

They will be joined by Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Joseph Wollacott under new trainer Fatawu Dauda.

Athletic Bilbao striker Iñaki Williams is also not in the squad despite his recent club form.

It is unclear why Addo decided to leave him out the man who has sent Bilbao into the finals of the Copa del Rey.

Newly signed LA Galaxy forward Joseph Paintsil is also missing from Otto Addo’s squad, fuelling rumours of a rift between the two given his exclusion from the 2022 FIFA World Cup squad.

But making a return to the squad are Fatawu Issahaku, Edmund Addo and Tariq Lamptey, whose new team mate Ibrahim Osman will join him for the trip to Morocco.

Their English Premier League mates Jordan Ayew, Antoine Semenyo and Mohammed Kudus will also emplane to Morocco for the matches.
