The Teranga Lions are on course to defend their title following a perfect start to their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

The 2021 AFCON champions beat five-time champions Cameroon 3-1 in their second Group C game on Friday, January 19 to qualify to the knock-out stage of the tournament.

The win follows the 3-0 win over The Gambia in their opening game.

Ismaila Sarr opened the score in the first half before Mouhamadou Diallo doubled the lead.

Although Cameroon pulled one back through Jean-Charles Castelleto, a final goal from former African Footballer of the Year Sadio Mane sealed the win for the Teranga Lions.

They now have six points ahead of the final group game against Guinea.

Cameroon, who drew 1-1 with the Guineans in the opening game, will need a win against The Gambia in order to stand a chance of qualifying to the next stage.

The final Group C matches will be played on Tuesday, January 23.
