Students of Sirigu SHS in the Kassena Nankana West district of the Upper East region have rejected food served to them as lunch Monday, October 30, 2023.

According to them, the school has been serving them beans and gari popularly known as ‘gɔbɛ’ for the past two weeks for lunch and supper.

On Thursday, they initially refused to eat the beans but were convinced to consume the food up till yesterday but the same meal was repeated today.

School authorities later engaged the students in a crunch meeting but that did not convince the students to eat the beans.

Almost half of the students are seeking to take temporal leave off the school for a proper meal.

However information gathered suggests that, the delay in supplying food to the school is as a result of an exchange commodity supply mechanism currently ongoing which will soon end all issues of food supply to Senior High Schools.
