The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced Kim Lars Björkegren as the new coach of the senior national women’s soccer team, the Black Queens.
The appointment of the Swede comes a couple of weeks after Nora Häuptle left her role to become the new Zambia coach.

In a statement to announce the new technical team of the Black Queens, the GFA described Björkegren as a “highly experienced and qualified coach”.
He will be assisted by Charles Sampson and Anita Wiredu.
Former Black Satellites Goalkeepers’ trainer Nassamu Yakubu has been appointed the Goalkeepers Coach with Enoch Jordan Dailey serving as the Athletics Coach.
The medical team will be led by Kate Boachie-Agyemang.
She will be assisted by Team Nurse Asinawu Abubakari with Margaret Foli to serve as the Physiotherapist.
The Welfare Manager will be Drucilia Arthur while Patience Quarshie and Adwoa Bayor will be the Equipment Officers.
Ronnie Bergdahl has also been appointed as the Video Analyst for the team.
The major assignment of the new technical team is the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) to be held in July in Morocco.
”The GFA is confident that Coach Björkegren and his technical team will bring the necessary expertise and experience to lead the Black Queens to success in upcoming international competitions.”
Ghana will play in Group C at the tournament against South Africa, Mali and Tanzania.
