The National Security through the Ghana National Fire Service has intervened with water tankers to dispense water to residents of Tsuibleoo Central, a suburb of Teshie in the Greater Accra region who have endured weeks of water shortage.
The water tankers provided water to residents on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 14, 2026 and later in the evening.
TV3 have sustained a campaign on the water crisis in Teshie, Nungua and their environs after the Desalination plant was shut down by the Ghana Water Company Limited.
Rees Nii Armah Quaye, Assemblyman for Tsuibleoo Central Electoral Area confirmed the intervention by the National Security on TV3’s Ghana Tonight, Wednesday, January 14, 2025.
“This is the second trip today (Wednesday). I can’t give an exact number of residents but it served the whole community in Tsui Bleoo Central. The name of the place is Ayigbe Mensah,” he stated.
Nii Armah Quaye explained that the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Lezdokuku Municipal Assembly has assured that the intervention will continue as part of efforts to mitigate the impact of the crisis until the water shortage is over.
The intervention follows TV3’s campaign on the crisis which prompted a meeting between the National Security Coordinator and the MCE for Lezdokuku Municipal Assembly where the intervention and a number of other measures were agreed upon.
“No, it is not just for today. First of all, I would like to say a big Thank You to the National Security Coordinator and then the MCE for Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly.
“For some time now, there has been water shortage in Teshie as TV3 reported and then few days ago you were on the grounds at Camp 2 to take live coverage of the situation.
“So the National Security had a meeting with the Municipal Chief Executive and they agreed to put in place temporary measures to help the people of Teshie,” he added.
Rees Nii Armah Quaye outlined the raft of measures instituted by the Municipal Assembly to mitigate the impact of the crisis after its meeting with the National Security.
“They will speak to other districts that do not have this crisis to lend us their DRIP tanker so that they can fill water supply the people of Ledzokuku every day.
“Secondly, they came on site yesterday (Tuesday) with the MCE to go round to look for places they can et up boreholes to at least sustain this crisis.
“Thirdly, they (National Security) have issued their tanker out to us to supply us with water everyday till this crisis is over,” he stressed.
He noted that the Municipal Assembly will soon draft a new time table on the distribution of water to the various communities in Teshie.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Water Company Limited has assured affected residents that the problem will soon be addressed.
