Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has debunked claims that the government’s economic achievements are a fallout from the policies of the previous administration.

He asserts that these gains result from deliberate, disciplined policies and collective national effort spearheaded by the government’s Economic Management Team.

His comments come amid criticism from the Minority and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), who argue that the government’s economic achievements aren’t based on any policies implemented since taking office.

Notably, prior to the presentation today, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Ofoase Ayirebi Member of Parliament, stated that the government has no achievements to make claims to.

2025 Mid-Year Budget review: NDC gov’t has no achievement to take credit for – Oppong Nkrumah

During the 2025 Mid-Year Budget review on Thursday, July 24, the Minister noted that the government’s interventions since taking office have yielded the modest gains recorded so far.

“The results we are witnessing are not by chance. They are the rewards of hard work, discipline, and prudent economic management,” Dr Forson stated.

He stressed that although the country was not yet out of the woods, the current indicators were a testament to Ghana’s resilience and the soundness of the administration’s economic approach.

He noted improvements in inflation control, primary balance, and fiscal discipline, and said government would continue implementing targeted policies to stimulate inclusive growth.

“Let us be clear: we did not stumble upon this progress. We earned it, and we must sustain it,” he added, calling on Ghanaians to remain committed to the ongoing economic reforms.

Dr Forson concluded by assuring Parliament and the public of the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability, promising that the remainder of the year would focus on protecting the vulnerable while consolidating the gains made thus far.
