Former Black Stars midfield maestro Sulley Ali Muntari has descended heavily on the Ghana Premier League, saying it has no future for the players.

The tough-talking former attacker minced no words as he described the domestic league as a “mess”.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Michael Oti Adjei over the weekend, the former Inter Milan star said changing rooms across several league centers stink while players continue to suffer.

The former Portsmouth player returned home in 2022 to play for Hearts of Oak, having a taste of the League after several years abroad.

“I enjoyed it. Hearts fans and the president were amazing,” he said.

“The league is a big hole where they are dumping money. There is no future for the local league. I am hoping I can get some funds and really help them. It’s a mess.

“When I was there, it was a mess. Maybe now it is worse. If we don’t help these guys, we won’t get the top players.”

Muntari says by the trend of events, it will be difficult to get good quality players from the domestic league to feed the Black Stars.

For him, the clubs are doing their best but the nation’s football-governing body is rather failing to provide the congenial conditions for players.

He called for immediate reforms to save the League from collapse.
