The KNUST Teaching Hospital is in limbo despite the Asantehene’s plea to President Akufo-Addo in 2017 to complete the project for him.

But five years on, the project is still where it is. This, Captain Smart has been ranting on for some weeks now, reiterating his worries during the Akoma FM/Onua TV joint programming in Kumasi.

At the second edition of the Peoples’ Assembly Wednesday, September 28, 2022, Municipal Chief Executive of Asokore Mampong, Kennedy Kwasi Kankam indicated some €80 million has been deposited at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology’s account to complete the phase two of the project.

This, Captain Smart says is an insult to the Asantehene if funds have been provided for the project to lie idle.

According to the Maakye host, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II who was out of town about three weeks ago made a recent appeal for the project to be completed.

He says if the university had funds two years ago to complete the project as government is claiming, it makes it an insult for the money to be there whilst Otumfuo would be making appeals for the project to be accomplished.

“This is an insult to Otumfuo. You said €80m has been deposited to the KNUST account two years ago to complete the phase two of the KNUST Teaching Hospital. Meanwhile, Otumfuo appealed again just about three weeks ago when he was out of the country for the project to be completed. So where was the 80million?,” he quizzed.
