Onuaonline has gathered two Halls at the University of Ghana, Legon, have clashed late hours of Friday to Saturday dawn leading to destruction of properties.

Two traditional Halls, Commonwealth Hall aka Vandals and Mensah Sarbah Hall were at the centre of the melee.

A lot of school properties have been destroyed and vehicle was set ablaze.

The police and Fire Service were at the scene to calm matters.

A sculpture of John Mensah Sarbah, the man whom the Mensah Sarbah Hall was named after has been stolen.

The cause of the fight has not been established yet.

Clashes between two Halls is not perculiar to any of the traditional universities in Ghana, a situation that led to the resisted conversion of Unity Hall, Kontinentals and the University Hall, Katanga of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi.

Before that, then Chancellor of the University of Ghana, the late Kofi Annan, then UN Secretary General had tried converting the Commonwealth Hall into a mixed one but was fiercely opposed by the students and the Alumni.

Here is a video of how some of the actions unfolded.
