Deputy General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Foyo Gbande, has praised party members for their dedication to the NDC and Ghana.

He says there is still work to be done as the year ends to keep the momentum going from their December 2024 election win.

Gbande avers that as a mobilisation force, the party needs to iron out some internal issues and frictions in the new year, which will be a key focus for them come January 2026.

Speaking in an interview on Onua FM’s Yen Nsempa morning show on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, he said tightening the few gaps within the party is the leadership’s priority to keep them on track.

“We’ve got a few knots to tighten, and that’s gonna keep us busy from January. As a political party, which is a mass mobilisation tool, you’ve got to manage conflicts, disagreements, expectations, and satisfaction levels,” he stated.

He explained that even though the “mercenary” that won them the last election is still intact, it’s wise they reorganise.

“We’ve won in the last one year, we’ve had some managing the government, some managing the party. We are having to go back to do reorganisation. I think as we speak now, our party and the mercenary of our party is okay. From branch to constituency, to region, to national, the machinery that won us the election has not collapsed,” he stated.

He further noted that the party is not in a hurry to make changes in its executives as that will be ingratitude on the part of the leadership.

“So we are not in a hurry to go and change the branch, constituency, regional executives only because we are in power and that we don’t need those people anymore. If we go on that tangent, we’ll be ungrateful to the ones who have worked for the party to make the party what it is,” he noted.
