Captain Smart has rained fury of disappointment at residents of Pra River,  a community in the Asante Akyem North district of the Ashanti region.

His anger stems from the pilfering of the steel railroad tracks in the area turning the once railway into a bare land.

Despite Ghanaian leadership’s failure in many spheres of their mandate, Mr. Smart noted it was time the citizens also became responsible in protecting state assets rather than exhibiting irresponsibility and wickedness for their personal benefit.

Captain Smart speaking on Maakye on Onua TV/FM Friday, December 16, 2022, charged the state security to punish severely, those involved in stealing the steels that taxpayers money has spent on.

He has asked government to address the practice with iron fist, without showing a modicum of mercy to perpetrators of such crimes.

“You can’t build a nation with an unreasonable sympathy. They’ve stolen all the metals on the railway at Pra River at Asante Akyem North. Sometimes we need to punish people to serve as a deterrent to others. How could you steal a whole track of metals forming a railway? The United States built the Guantanamo Bay for Americans so that thieves and other criminals could be sent there. We should begin such practices here to sanitise our environment,” he fumed.

A resident who phoned-in from the community said they are surprised that duty bearers have looked on for people to render the once railway a desert.

“Captain, could you believe we have police here, chiefs and assemblymen who have all looked on for this to happen? The railway is almost about 20km and they have stolen everything. You can see people loading the steel into trucks to go and sell yet we always preach ‘fix the country’ and how would we thrive with this attitude?” he quizzed.
