A political analyst and lecturer Dr. Richard Baah Amoako has taken on President Akufo-Addo for insisting those asking for a reshuffle in his administration want to destabilise his government.

The President has said he will not make any change in his government because most of his appointees are doing well in their respective portfolios.

But speaking on TV3’s News 360 Monday, August 8, 2022, Dr. Baah Amoako who is a leading member of the NPP said if the government had done anything better, seeking a bailout from the Breton Woods institute wouldn’t be his resort.

“I don’t know what he is using for his definition of outstanding. If you’re outstanding, you don’t go to the IMF. If you are outstanding, you don’t get nationwide strike. That I am sorry is failure. The moment you go to IMF it means you’ve surrendered, I can’t do this I need help,” the former National Chairman aspirant espoused.

He went ahead to describe the idea of bringing the country out of the IMF with the same team he is having and therefore making them outstanding as illogical.

“The whole argument is not logical. If they took you out of IMF, they can’t take you back to IMF. How did they take you back , this question must be answered.

Meanwhile, the Dr. Baah Amoako believes government doesn’t have the strength to propel its appointees to function properly.

It lacks money, he noted, which he must admit.

“There are other things involved here, the government does not have money. We all know that . Most of these ministers they never get the resources they need to do their jobs.

“How do you assess excellence or failure. So you didn’t give the person the finance he needed to do the job, how do you fire him. That’s the question,” the political science lecturer noted.

President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during his visit in the Northern Region indicated he is not going to succumb to the calls of Ghanaians especially the opposition National Democratic Congress to make changes in his appointees because they have performed outstandingly well, especially when it was the same team that helped him bring Ghana out of the IMF when the previous government secured a programme with them.
