Spokesperson for the Economic Fighters League, Nii Aryee Opare, has said the ruling New Patriotic (NPP) will lose the 2024 election irrespective of who will be the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
He asserts the poor performance of the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia led administration leaves much to be desired, the reason they will lose power despite who will be occupying the office of the IGP.
His comments stem from a leaked audio recording of some top police officers plotting Dr. George Akuffo Dampare’s removal to take over from him as IGP.

In the long audio conversation, the current IGP was tagged as a principled man who wouldn’t allow the governing NPP to rig the polls to retain power.
They alleged further in the audio that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have promised Dr. Akuffo Dampare to maintain him as IGP if they come to power, an offer they (officers on tape) consider juicy enough to induce the police chief to make the NPP suffer in the December 2024 polls.
But speaking on Maakye Tuesday, July 18, 2023, Nii Aryee told Captain Smart, host of the show that, a ship will continue to sink when things get out of hand irrespective of who the Captain is.
