Ashanti regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Augustus Andrew Nana Akwasi has commended the various election Committees across the regions for ensuring a successful primaries.

In an interview with William Evans-Nkum, the regional Chairman described Saturday’s exercise as highly democratic and transparent, befitting of the opposition party.

“We have always set the pace, it was the NDC which brought the current democratic dispensation and once again, we have demonstrated to all that, we have a party which is built on a strong democratic grounds,” he indicated.

He congratulated all winners and to the losers assured them of inclusiveness saying  “we are for everyone, no one will be left behind. Everybody is a winner and we are going to work collectively to ensure all our seats in the region are secured. We are targeting other seats to increase the numbers in the Ashanti region,” he said.

Out of the four constituencies currently in the camp of the NDC, only Sekyere Afram Plains lost the incumbent, Dr Alex Adomako. He was defeated by Hajia Afrah Nasira.

Former Minority Chief Whip, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak of Asawase also retained his seat.

Abdul-Salam Adams also retained the New Edubiase seat.

Ejura Sekyedumase delegates also retained Mohammed Bawah Braimah to lead them to the 2024 elections.
