Communications Director of Nsoatreman FC Gyempeh Kofi Joel has denied reports that supporters of the club have asked coach Yaw Preko not to set foot at the team’s training grounds henceforth.
Despite confirming there was a confrontation between the supporters and the coach on Wednesday, Janaury 15, the spokesperson of the club said that did not lead to the reports that Yaw Preko is no more the coach of the side.
He was speaking on Onua Sports on Wednesday, January 15.
This followed reports that the supporters of the MTN FA Cup champions thronged the team’s training grounds on Tuesday evening to demand the coach’s resignation.
“It wasn’t as if they sacked Head Coach, Coach Yaw Preko, from the training grounds but already I had reports that coach reported to camp unwell and had even sought permission to show up and leave because of his medication,” he explained to Isaac Ansah Apagya.
“So, I think it was a sheer coincidence about the supporters agitation that they are not happy with the club’s performance and that is why many are reporting that the supporters have sacked him from the training ground.”
Mr Gyempeh, nonetheless, confirmed that the supporters were at the training grounds on Wednesday to express frustrations about the recent spate of results
“It is not necessarily they sacking the coach from the team but they are only telling the coach that they are not happy with results so he does something about it.”
Gyempeh Kofi Joel, therefore, confirmed that Yaw Preko is likely to return to the dugout on Sunday when Nsoatreman FC take on Karela United in the Ghana Premier League.
He said so far the assistant coach has deputised for Yaw Preko, who is expected to return to training on the eve of the Karela game.
