Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini, Head of Corporate Affairs at the Hajj Board, has stated that the tragic death of six Ghanaian pilgrims in Mecca cannot be blamed on them.
Alhaji Fuseini in an interview with Johnnie Hughes on 3FM Sunrise on Tuesday, 10, emphasized that the deaths were due to natural causes and unforeseen health complications, not negligence or mismanagement by the Hajj authorities.
“Life is under the authority of Allah, and no human being has control of his or her life. So, if somebody loses their life, we (Muslims) think that it is the will of Allah for them to die in his Holy Land. There was no issue of negligence,” he said.
The Head of Corporate Affairs also revealed that measures were put in place to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
“We endeavor to take everybody to the hajj pilgrimage and bring them back safely, but the issue of whether somebody survives or dead is beyond us.” He emphasized and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.
Alhaji Fuseini, meanwhile, described this year’s pilgrimage as the best in recent history.
“No human institution or process is perfect. So, I’ll not claim total perfection in this year’s Hajj. But anybody who wants to be fair, objective and truthful will tell you that this year’s Hajj is the best so far,” he touted.
Six Ghanaian pilgrims participating in the 2025 Hajj in Saudi Arabia have been confirmed dead by the Ghana Hajj task force.
Following Islamic tradition, all six deceased pilgrims have been laid to rest in Saudi Arabia.
Efforts have meanwhile been made by the Ghanaian government in collaboration with Saudi authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of pilgrims.
