Two-time Ghana Premier League winner Vincent Adae Atinga is appealing to authorities to get a minimum wage for players in the top-flight.

He says it is sometimes disheartening for one to know how paltry top players are given monthly as salaries in the Ghana Premier League.

“I talk to a lot of players and you can see salary-wise, things are not good,” he opened up on Agoro Fie on Onua TV on Wednesday, June 25.

“Can you imagine a Ghana Premier League player taking GH¢1,000? To be honest, it’s very bad because you may have parents and even the GH¢1000 doesn’t come [on time].

“So before it comes, you owe GH¢1,100.”

For him, the solution should be a salary cap imposed on clubs in order to help raise the standard of living of players.

“At least there should be a minimum wage for players and the authorities can work that out,” he said, disclosing that some players depend on some of them for survival.

“Some take so small that they depend on us the seniors to sort them out in some way, so we appeal to the authorities to consider a minimum wage of GH¢2,000 or GH¢3,000 for each Ghana Premier League player.”

Atinga helped Bibiani Goldstars annex the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title and he has promised to further help the Miners reach their target of getting to the group phase of the CAF Champions League.
