The Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh presenting the petition.
The Minority Caucus in Ghana’s Parliament has subm itted a formal petition to President John Dramani Mahama, urging swift executive intervention in response to what it calls a “grave erosion of democratic norms” during the Ablekuma North by-election and the growing threat of illegal mining (galamsey).
The petition, grounded in Chapter 6 of the 1992 Constitution, accuses state-aligned actors and elements within the security services of enabling violence and environmental degradation through either complicity or inaction.
