Malawi and Kansas City Current striker Temwa Chawinga has been nominated for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
Chawinga is one of two Africans to receive nomination for the award.
Current African Best Women’s Footballer Barbra Banda is the other nominee.
The nominees were released on Thursday, August 7.
Leading the pack are members of the UEFA Women’s Euro-winning England team.
Among them are Chloe Kelly, Alesia Russo, Lucy Bronze, Hannah Hampton and Leah Williamson. Super sub in the Gold-winning campaign Michelle Agyemang was nominated for the Kopa Trophy.
Also nominated is Brazilian Marta, who has won the FIFA Best Player Award a record six times.
