The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has revealed that her upbringing has encouraged her to be strong in life.
The MP said, growing up, she was a palm wine tapper, went for hunting as a woman, and did other things that were not associated with women.
“I was once a palm wine tapper. I have gone for hunting before, so nothing discourages me”, the first time MP told Onua News’ Nsem Titire in an interview on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
She said “those court cases before I became MP did not discourage me, but rather they all motivated me”.
Madam Cudjoe said she promised to ensure that roads in her constituency are constructed because “I am forty- years but I have never seen coaltar in my constituency”.
“Government has awarded some kilometers of roads in four communities in the 2025 budget. Amenfi Central has gotten more of the approved roads in the entire Western Region,” she said.
Joana Cudjoe painted a grooming picture of how a pregnant woman and her husband died because of lack of hospital in the constituency.
The MP said the health situation in the constituency is bad that not even a single health center is in the constituency and this is hampering healthcare delivery.
Madam Gyan Cudjoe recalled that “a women died while going to deliver”.
She said because their area does not have hospital, they had to go to Asankragua for health care and on their way, they had and accident”.
“… health care system is bad. We do not have even one. We need more than ten eye clinics because I have done several surgeries for people because we don’t have such facilities”.
She said “we need a dentist…we don’t have dental clinic in the area but there must be one in the area”.
