The Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has paid a visit to the Ga North Municipal Hospital, reaffirming the government’s commitment to providing the necessary tools for healthcare workers to excel in their duties.

This visit is part of the Minister’s routine tours of health facilities since taking office, aimed at assessing healthcare delivery and identifying areas for improvement.

During the visit, Mr Akandoh handed over medical equipment worth $1.5 million to the hospital, emphasizing the need for proper staffing, upgraded equipment, and enhanced supervision to improve patient outcomes and restore public confidence in healthcare services.

‘‘We cannot do all in one day or one year. We have a clear strategy and when you know where you are going, anywhere you get to, you will not describe there as your destination because you have a proper destination ahead. So we know the pressure on the facility because the system has been left to deteriorate for a very long time and so nobody is to be blamed. We don’t believe in many lamentations but we want to fix the system.’’ He said.

Medical Superintendent Dr. Victor Caesar expressed gratitude to the Minister for fulfilling his promise, showcasing the government’s dedication to enhancing healthcare services.

‘‘In fact, when the machines came, if you see the smiles on the faces of the nurses and staff when you were offloading, you will be amazed. This is going to go a very long way to serve the logistical challenges that we have in the facility. We are so happy, and we want to say a big thank you to Minister for not reneging on his words,’’ he said.

The Minister’s visit also provided an opportunity for him to interact with patients and hospital staff, gaining insight into the challenges facing the facility.

The visit to the Ga North Municipal Hospital underscores the government’s focus on revamping the healthcare system through strategic partnerships and investments in medical infrastructure.
