The University of Cape Coast’s (UCC) Governing Council has approved the implementation of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission’s (GTEC) directives, appointing the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Denis Worlanyo Aheto, to act as Vice-Chancellor in the interim.

The Governing Council communicated this decision to the university community and the general public in a statement issued on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, following an emergency meeting.

“The University Governing Council wishes to inform the University Community, its stakeholders and the general public that at an emergency meeting held on 24th September 2025, Council decided to abide by the directives from Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC),” the statement contained.

“Accordingly, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Denis Worlanyo Aheto is to act in the interim,” the statement signed by Gideon Enoch Abbeyquaye, the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, added.

It further stressed that both academic and administrative activities are going on without any issues.

“The Council wishes to assure all stakeholders and the University Community that the University remains stable. Academic and administrative activities continue without disruption,” it added.

GTEC orders UCC Vice-Chancellor to vacate position over retirement age
