A second-half goal by Congolese midfielder Joseph Bakasu gave Wydad Athletic Club (WAC) a 1-0 win over Asante Kotoko in the second preliminary round of the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup.
This is the first defeat of the Ghanaian giants in their return to the second-tier continental club competition after a home-and-away win over Kwara United in the first preliminary round.
However, it is their fourth goal conceding at home in the competition.
Asante Kotoko conceded three goals at the Accra Sports Stadium in their 4-3 home win over the Nigerians.
Goalkeeper Mohamed Camara, who has conceded all the goals so far, was red-carded after handling the ball outside his penalty area.
Before this, however, he saved the Porcupine Warriors on a number of occasions during the game.
The second leg is scheduled to take place at the Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca on Friday, October 24.
