The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has carried out an operation in Budumburam and its surrounding communities in the Central Region, leading to several arrests and the seizure of large quantities of illicit drugs.
The intelligence-led raid, conducted in the early hours of Friday 16 January 2026, targeted suspected drug dens and distribution points as part of NACOC’s nationwide crackdown on drug trafficking and abuse.
A statement issued on January 17 said, ” Among those arrested was a 32-year-old woman identified as Rebecca Afia Naa Dei Kotei, popularly known as “Mother”, described by opinion leaders as a key figure in the local drug trade who had previously evaded arrest.”

NACOC officials say the suspect is believed to be a central player in the distribution network operating within Budumburam and its environs, allegedly coordinating both retail and supply chains.
” During the operation, officers seized quantities of suspected cannabis, tramadol, and other controlled substances, along with items believed to be linked to drug peddling activities,” the statement noted.

NACOC has indicated that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will be processed for court in accordance with the law, while further operations are expected as the Commission tightens its grip on drug-related crime in the region.
