Chairman of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Elections Committee, Joseph Osei Owusu has announced the reinstatement of 58 TESCON youth organizer delegates to the party’s upcoming flagbearer election.

Initially, these delegates had been excluded from the voting process, a decision that had reportedly been agreed upon by the candidates.

However, following a formal petition to the National Executive Committee (NEC), the Elections Committee has reversed the decision and placed the delegates back on the official voting list.

Chairman Osei Owusu also outlined strict measures to ensure the integrity of the voting process.

“No delegate will be issued accreditation. Every person must bring either their party card, voter ID, Ghana card, passport, or driver’s license,” he said on Onua FM on January 28.

He further emphasized that mobile phones will not be allowed inside the voting booths to prevent any disruptions or breaches of protocol.

On the matter of proxy voting, Osei Owusu was firm in stating that “there will be no proxy voting during these primaries. Any delegate in the diaspora who wishes to vote must travel home and vote in person.”

This aims to ensure a transparent and orderly process as the NPP prepares for its crucial internal elections.
