The ceremonial forecourt of Jubilee House came alive with colour, discipline, and military precision as Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang reviewed the Change of Guard ceremony at the Presidency on March 16.

The event, steeped in tradition, showcased the professionalism of personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces who are tasked with the responsibility of safeguarding the nation’s highest office. Dressed in ceremonial uniforms, the guards marched in synchronized formation as the outgoing team, the Ghana Airforce, formally handed over duty to the incoming guard contingent, the Ghana Army.

The Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang who served as the reviewing officer for the ceremony, received a salute from the parade commander before taking her position to observe the carefully choreographed military drills.

The Change of Guard ceremony is a symbolic exercise that reflects the discipline, vigilance, and commitment of the military in protecting the seat of government. It also serves as a reminder of the armed forces’ role in safeguarding democratic institutions and national leadership.

Officials from the Office of the President and senior officers of the military, school children and some traditional leaders were present to witness the ceremony, which has become an important tradition at the Presidency.

Beyond its ceremonial appeal, the event highlighted the enduring values of duty, loyalty, and patriotism that define the Ghanaian soldier. For many observers, the display was not only a demonstration of military excellence but also a powerful symbol of national unity and respect for state institutions.

The review by the Vice President reaffirmed government’s appreciation for the dedication and professionalism of the Ghana Armed Forces in carrying out their constitutional mandate.
