The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has successfully completed the Phase Two upgrade of the Lashibi Primary Substation ahead of its scheduled deadline.
A statement issued on Thursday, April 16 said the project, which was initially expected to be completed on Friday, April 17, 2026, was finalised early following round-the-clock efforts by ECG’s technical teams.
As a result, power supply to affected areas has been fully restored sooner than anticipated.
ECG attributed the early completion to the dedication of its engineers and technicians, who worked continuously to install and test the new equipment within a shorter timeframe.
Providing an update on its next steps, the company disclosed that plans for the next phase of transformer upgrades are currently being finalised, with details on location and timelines expected to be announced in the coming days.
The power distributor also indicated that it will soon roll out an expanded programme to replace ageing distribution transformers in various communities as part of efforts to strengthen the national power grid.
According to ECG, these interventions are aimed at reducing system overloads, minimising power outages, and ensuring a more stable and reliable electricity supply for consumers.
The company expressed appreciation to residents of Lashibi and surrounding areas for their patience and cooperation during the planned outages, noting that their support contributed to the safe and efficient execution of the project.
ECG reaffirmed its commitment to improving electricity service delivery and supporting Ghana’s development through a more resilient power infrastructure.
