The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has directed the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Highways Authority, Mallam Issah Ishak, to immediately commence the process of terminating the contract of Black Oak, the contractor responsible for the Bogoso–Prestea Road.

The road contract was awarded in 2025, but according to official reports, the contractor only mobilised to site in March 2026. After clearing vegetation along the road’s sides, Black Oak allegedly abandoned the site, claiming they had not received the road’s design.

Further checks by the Regional Highways Engineer revealed that less than two percent of the total work has been completed so far.

Minister Agbodza made the directive during an inspection tour of Big Push projects in the Western Region. He noted that although the Bogoso–Prestea road is not formally part of the Big Push initiative, it remains a priority project for the government.

“We will not allow any contractor to delay this project,” the Minister stated. He has instructed the Highways Authority to expedite the termination process so that work can resume without further delay.

Efforts to reach Black Oak for a response were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
