The Roads and Highways Minister, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has given Big Aidoo Construction a one-month ultimatum to recover delays on the Enchi–Kudjour–Pekyi road (Km 30.0–62.0, Lot 2) under the government’s Big Push programme.

According to the Minister, the contractor is behind schedule, having achieved about 19 percent progress instead of the expected 20 percent by December last year.

He noted that although the contractor delayed in mobilizing to site, there has been visible improvement in recent weeks.

“You are behind where you should be, but the good thing is that we are now seeing activity on the ground,” the Minister said.

He acknowledged increased mobilisation and work over the past two weeks, expressing optimism that the contractor can recover lost time if the current pace is sustained.

The Minister gave the contractor a one-month ultimatum to get back on track.

“We will reassess you in a month to ensure you are back on schedule. We cannot allow projects to go beyond the contractual deadline,” he stressed.

He further urged the contractor to speed up work without compromising quality, emphasizing proper compaction and adherence to engineering standards.

In response, the contractor, Big Aidoo Construction, assured the Minister of its commitment to accelerate progress.

“I have all the technical people on the ground now, and about 50 percent of my equipment is ready to work. We will continue at this pace, and I’m confident that by your next visit, we will have exceeded the expected rate of work,” the contractor stated.

The Minister maintained that all contractors under the government’s road infrastructure programme must meet timelines or face sanctions.
