The Black Starlets gave up a 2-0 first-half lead to draw 2-2 against Algeria in their opening group game at the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Isaac Barfo and Eric Adu Gyamfi gave the two-time champions the lead but changes made by Algeria coach Amine Ghimouz in the second half got them into the game.
They scored two quick goals within three minutes of each other to be back in the game.
Adam Benali scored first in the 57th minute before Melwane Zaidi clinched the equaliser on the hour mark.
The North Africans could have gone ahead as Tanzanian referee Ahmed Arajiga called for an infringement in the penalty area after consulting the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
However, Algeria fluffed it, giving the West Africans the needed sigh of relief.
The Starlets next game will be against South Africa, who beat defending champions Senegal 2-1 in the other Group D game after going 1-0 down in the first half.
That match will take place at the Mohammed VI Football Academy.
