A 55-year-old man has been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment with hard labour for attacking his sister and causing her life-altering injuries at Sefwi Abrokofe in the Juaboso District of the Western North Region.

William Gyamfi, popularly known as Kwasi Manso, was convicted by the Sefwi Bodi Circuit Court for attacking his 50-year-old sister, Akua Agyeiwaa, during a heated misunderstanding on January 17, 2026.

According to evidence presented before the court, the disagreement turned violent when William allegedly stabbed his sister in both eyes, leaving her with severe injuries and shocking members of the community.

The disturbing incident led to his arrest by the police and subsequent prosecution.

 

The convict

After several court proceedings, His Honour James Mensah Donkor, presiding over the Sefwi Bodi Circuit Court, found the accused guilty and sentenced him to five years’ imprisonment with hard labour.

Speaking to 3news , the Juaboso District Police Commander, Superintendent Isaac Otsin, said the conviction demonstrates the commitment of both the police and the judiciary to ensuring justice for victims of violent crimes.

He warned that violence, regardless of the circumstances, has devastating consequences and urged the public to seek peaceful means of resolving disputes.
