Senior Lecturer at the Department of Political Science at the University of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Asah-Asante, has said experience and relationship with delegates will determine who wins the NPP National Vice Chairmanship contest.
Speaking on Ghana Tonight on TV3 on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, Dr. Asah-Asante said the contest will be tough due to the calibre of the personalities involved.
“It is a tough one. You have very interesting personalities in there; people with skill, people with knowledge, people with experience and they’re party people through and through,” he said.
According to him, the 13 aspirants include individuals who have served the party in various capacities, making the October 3, 2026 race a highly competitive one. “That seat is going to be hot,” he stressed.
On what will decide the outcome, Dr. Asah-Asante pointed to two key factors.”What will put somebody through is experience and your relationship with the delegates and these are the two that will determine the race,” he said.
He added that predicting a winner is difficult because of the strength of the field, he, however, tipped three person he believes could stand tall amongst the 13. “For me to stick my neck out is a difficult one,” he noted.
The 13 contestants for the position are Henry Nana Boakye, Kojo Fosu Boadu, Mustapha Abdul Hameed, Samuel Pyne, Richard Ahiagba, Abena Pokua Boaitey Amoah, Alhaji Masawudu Osman, Yaa Amponsah Frimpong, George Kwabena Abankwah Yeboah, Horma Miezah, Richard Oti Aboagye, Bright Essilfie Kumi and Nana Akomea.
Three persons among these would be chosen to serve as 1st, 2nd and 3rd Vice Chairpersons for the party.
