Medeama SC captain and goalkeeper Felix Kyei says the team are not under pressure ahead of their CAF Champions League preliminary-round clash against TP Mazembe, insisting they are ready to make their supporters proud.
Felix Kyei is confident the Yellow and Mauves can rise to the occasion when they face TP Mazembe on Sunday in the first leg.
Despite coming up against one of Africa’s most decorated clubs, the goalkeeper insists Medeama are approaching the encounter with confidence and without unnecessary pressure.
“We are ready and we are not under pressure,” he said. “We just want to go out there, give our best and make our fans proud.”
The Medeama captain also believes the arrival of goalkeeper Monged Abuzaid Salman has had a positive impact on the squad and contributed to his own development.
According to him, working alongside Salman has brought healthy competition and added quality to the goalkeeping department, helping him improve ahead of the crucial continental tie.
Medeama have enjoyed an encouraging pre-season, including a training camp in Ivory Coast, participation in the Nsenkyire Cup and victory over Nations FC in the Champion of Champions.
Kyei believes those preparations have given the team the confidence to face TP Mazembe, with Medeama determined to make the most of home advantage.
The match will also be a historic occasion for Tarkwa, as the city prepares to host a CAF inter-club competition for the first time.
For Kyei, however, the focus is to remain calm, give their best and reward the Medeama supporters with a performance to remember.
