The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed all prospective parliamentary aspirants, their agents and supporters to cease all forms of campaign activities with immediate effect.
The party says it has received numerous complaints that some members with parliamentary aspirations have begun campaigning in various constituencies, a conduct it says is contrary to its regulations and Code of Conduct.
The directive is contained in a statement issued on Saturday, October 11, 2026, and signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, saying such conduct creates an uneven playing field for prospective aspirants.
According to the statement, such premature campaigns undermine the unity and discipline on which the party’s success depends.
The banned activities include mounting of posters, billboards, banners and other branded materials, organising rallies, polling station executives meetings or tours for the purpose of soliciting support, distributing items or other inducements to delegates and party members, and paid media and social media advertising promoting a candidature.
The statement said party officers at the polling station, electoral area, constituency, region and national levels, as well as TESCON, are forbidden from posting any parliamentary aspirant on any social media platform including Facebook, X and Instagram, or enabling such premature activities.
It warned that any person who fails to comply will be dealt with in accordance with the party’s disciplinary procedures, which may affect their eligibility to contest.
The party said it will announce the timetable and guidelines for its parliamentary processes in due course and has directed constituency and regional executives to ensure strict compliance within their jurisdictions.
